Mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin died in a plane crash. The plane crash took place on Wednesday in Russia. He had recently made headlines by launching a rebellion against Russia’s military leadership around three months ago. Along with him were 10 more people on board according to Russia’s civil aviation authority. Meanwhile, social media is actively relating this incident to the bitter relations between him and the military force. Saying that the plane was shot down by the Russian air defences.
For the unkonown, the Mercenary leader’s rebellion was not in favor with Russian President Vladimir Putin as well. The president had issued a statement that he would make sure to punish those behind the act. He had titled it as “betrayal” and “treason” against the nation. Few hours after the announcement, Yevgeny Prigozhin withdrew the rebellion. However, the relationship between him and Putin wasn’t very good. Due to which there have been speculations of him including in the crash. He was the leader of a private military group which has been left without a leader now.
Did Putin mention about the crash?
Meanwhile, Putin did not mention anything about the crash while he was addressing an event for 80th anniversary of the Kursk battle in World War II. Although he didn’t mention about the crash, he praised the soldiers who are fighting bravely and resolutely”. However, others were quick to react to the incident and US President Joe Biden was one of them. He said “I don’t know for a fact what happened, but I’m not surprised,” and continued to say that “There’s not much that happens in Russia that (President) Putin’s not behind. But I don’t know enough to know the answer.”
The plane in which the Wagner chief was traveling was his private one as per some reports. As per Reuters, the plan was fine and had no issues until there were 30 more seconds for its landing. It was an Embraer Legacy 600 executive jet that had a sudden and steep descent leading to crash. Exact reason behind the crash is still being identified by them.
