The 2023 ODI World Cup has been scheduled to begin from October 5 onwards and in the meanwhile, the announcement of Indian Squad for the 2023 Asia Cup has been made. The ACC event will be held from August 30 onwards and The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee has decided 17-member for the squad that’ll participate in the event. Meanwhile, India skipper Rohit Sharma made a statement that everyone has been hooked to! What did he say and what was it about let’s see below.
Rohit Sharma along side Ajit Agarkar, Chairman of team India selectors were present at a presser where Rohit was asked a question. He was asked about India’s spin options with Kuldeep Yadav who is a lone specialist spinner as of now. To which Rohit made a very light statement saying that him and Kohli could bowl a couple of overs in the marquee ICC event. He said “Hopefully Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can bowl some overs in the World Cup (laughs),”. This made everyone present there giggle and laugh.
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be held in India and will begin with match between defending champions England and New Zealand in a recap of the 2019 World Cup final to kickstart the proceedings. Meanwhile, India will start its campaign against five-time winners Australia on October 8. This will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium located in Chennai. About the Asia Cup 2023 India will play their match against the Pakistan on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
As the Asia Cup 2023 is nearby, the Indian team has only started its preparation officially. Team India will consist of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya among others. The three of them have started jetting off to NCA in Bengaluru. Only members who have been selected to be in the squad will be seen in the camp since it is only for the Asia Cup 2023 team.
